Soft Focus Imagining

I was born in the small town of Maldon in Essex. At the age of 4 my father (Jim) was transferred to the little market town of Ringwood, Hampshire. So off to Ringwood we went with of course

my Mum (Barbara).This I classify as my home town though Maldon was the starting point. During this period (in Maldon) it was discovered that I had a congenital heart problem so most of my childhood was spent in and out of hospital. I have to admit that this did give me a warped prospective on life, the universe and everything! At 12 I had one of the first open heart surgeries of it’s kind and in many respects made medical history. To this day the hospital and staff of “The Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children” are dear to me and seldom a day goes by when I don’t thank them silently for what they did for me.

 

To cut a long story short, at 21 I was given my first “real” camera by my grandparents (Nelly and Pop) a Pentax and from that moment on photography lingered quite close to me. On moving to Norway I was able to afford to upgrade my camera to a Canon F1 with many of the accessories. So many of the photographs in the gallery were taken with this wonderful camera.

All that being said, I still did not consider photography a possibility to earn a living from and with my job bouncing me around the Europe and the World I did not spend the time needed to fully develop my skills.

Recently I went into the digital world of photography and purchased a Canon Powershot S1 and a Canon 10D. Both these cameras offer high resolution images and depending on the subject matter at hand will depend on the camera to be used. When I’m working with a model (like the Kelley Trippy pictures) I use the digitial image as a starting point not an ending point.
